17th June 2023 Llandyssil (MEG)

Only the second record for the county and only the second record for north Wales, the first being recorded at Llandinam in 2020. A local species which is slowly spreading north and west from the south-east of England. Another one for Montgomeryshire (the 3rd. county record) was trapped in Llandyssil, again in the east of the county.

18th Aug 2023 Llanfyllin (SS)

The second county record was taken at Llanfyllin (at the same site as the first record), this was also only the 3rd record for north Wales.

0834 Scrobipalpa ocellatella 1855 Cypress Pug 2384 Vine’s Rustic

5th Sept 2023 Cemmaes (SAL)

NCR for Montgomeryshire (trapped in the west of the county) and a first for North Wales.
7th Sept 2023 Commins Coch (PRW)

This is only the third record for Montgomeryshire and the first in the west of the county, the previous two records coming from the east of the county. Another one turned at the same site the following night (a different moth), which perhaps suggests a small breeding colony, rather than an individual 'wanderer', only time will tell as regards this.
9th Sept 2023 Llandyssil (MEG)

NCR, recorded in the east of the county. This species seems to be spreading more north and west across the UK, further records are likely to show up.
1972 Convolvulus Hawk-moth

11th Sept 2023 Commins Coch (PRW)

Came to light at Commins Coch in the west of the county.
