UK Status Resident. A widespread and fairly common species in Britain. Montgomeryshire Status First recorded in the west of the county at Commins Coch in 2011. Wingspan : M & F, 16-24mm. Confusion species It's orange head makes this species fairly distinctive. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Wherever bee hives are found. Foodplant Wax, dried fruit and insects. Lifestage data Eggs laid on food source. The larva feeds on old wax in a beehive. Pupates in a white silken cocoon. |
