Resident. Widespread and common throughout Britain as far north as southern Scotland.
A very common species that seems to be restricted to the northern half of the county.
Wingspan : M & F, 17-18mm.

Wherever foodplant is found.
Moss feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva forms silken galleries amongst the moss and feeds within. Pupates in a slight cocoon in the moss.
