Resident. A northern species found from Staffordshire to the north of Scotland where it is very common and throughout Wales.

Montgomeryshire Status

Recorded from a single site in the west of the county at Commins Coch.

Wingspan :   M & F, 11-14mm.

Confusion species

D. acuminatana.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)


Habitat

Wasteland and uncultivated land.

Foodplant

Yarrow and tansy.

Lifestage data

Root feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives and feeds in the roots and rootstock. Pupates in an earthen cocoon.
