UK Status

Resident. Locally common in England and Wales as far as southern Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

Known only from the eastern side of the county. Most recently recorded in 2012 at Middletown but prior to that, just two records existed from the 1960's.

Wingspan :   M & F, 11-17mm.

Confusion species

C. internana and C. compositella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Bivoltine)

Habitat

Woodland and thickets.

Foodplant

Bitter vetch and bush vetch.

Lifestage data

Spinning/seed feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva spins two leaves tightly together and feeds within or feeds on the seeds inside the pod. Pupates in a silken cocoon in the soil or amongst leaf litter.
