UK Status

Resident. Fairly common in the southern half of Britain, becoming more local further north.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2016 at Llanymynech Rocks in the north-east of the county.

Wingspan :   M & F 8-10mm.

Confusion species

A fairly distinctive species.
Flight time & Voltinity (Bivoltine)

Habitat

Chalk and grassland meadows, sand dunes and open woodland.

Foodplant

Clover, bird's foot trefoil.

Lifestage data

Eggs laid singly on foodplant. Larva feed in stems, later in spun leaves. Pupates in a white cocoon in the litter.
