Woodland and parkland.

Foodplant

Oak and sweet chestnut.

Lifestage data

Nut feeder. Eggs laid along the leaf veins. Larva lives in the nut eating out the kernel. Pupates in a tough silken cocoon in rotten wood, under moss or bark on a tree.
