Resident. Widely distributed in England and Wales but always rather scarce.
A single, very old record from the Welshpool area in 1963.
Wingspan : M & F, 14-20mm.
time & Voltinity
Arable land, quarries and sandhills.
Flower/seed feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives in flowerheads and seedheads feeding on developing seeds and pith. Pupates in a silken cocoon in the soil.
