Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles as far north as Argyll.

Montgomeryshire Status

A fairly common species, especially in the north half of the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 15-17mm.

Habitat

Open woodland and hedgerows.

Foodplant

Bramble and associated species.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva spins a large untidy shelter on the terminal leaves and feeds within. Pupates in a whitish silken cocoon in larval habitation or spun up in a leaf.
