Confusion species

Care should be taken, this species is very variable and can resemble other species of Epinotia.

Habitat

Woodland, gardens and wet places.

Foodplant

Willow and poplar spp.

Lifestage data

Catkin feeder/spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva feeds either inside a catkin or between two flatly spun leaves. Pupates spun up in larval habitation or in a silken cocoon amongst leaf litter.
