UK Status Resident. Locally common, found throughout Britain as far north as Perthshire. Very local in North Wales and some north-western Montgomeryshire Status First recorded in the west of the county at Commins Coch in 2011. Wingspan : M & F, 11-13mm. Confusion species A quite distinctive species. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Univoltine)  Habitat Rides and open areas of woodland. Foodplant Oak, silver birch and sloe. Lifestage data Spinning. Eggs laid on underside of foodplant. Larva lives and feeds within spun leaves or shoots. Pupa pale yellow, spun up in a white silken cocoon attached to a dead leaf or on the ground. |
