UK Status

Resident. A local and generally uncommon species found in the southern half of Britain and scattered localities in Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2013 at Derwenlas in the far west of the county. This is only the second record in north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 17-22mm.

Confusion species

Apotomis betuletana.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Open woodland, marshy areas and banks of streams.

Foodplant

Birch.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on a foodplant. Larva feeds between tightly spun leaves. Pupates in the larval habitation or spun up on the ground.
