Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles, becoming more scarce further north.

Fairly common throughout the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 16-22mm.

None.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Woodland, hedgerows and wet places.

Foodplant

Willow, poplar, silver birch, alder and hazel.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva spins shoots together or turns down a leaf edge, feeding within. Pupates spun up in fallen leaves or in larval habitation.
