Resident. Widespread throughout Britain as far north as Perthshire.

Found at several scattered sites throughout the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 12-18mm.

Confusion species

A. xylosteana.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)


Gardens, orchards, hedgerows and edges of woods.


Various trees and shrubs.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva feeds within spun leaves and developing fruits. Pupates in spun leaves or a folded leaf, occasionally in debris on the ground.
