UK Status

Resident. Locally common on heaths and moors from Cheshire northwards and a few records from north Wales.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2011 in the Berwyns, north of the county, probably quite scarce.

Wingspan :   M & F, 12-16mm.

Fairly distinctive.

Habitat

Open country, heaths and moorland.

Foodplant

Heather, myrtle and other herbaceous plants.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva feeds in spun or folded leaves. Pupates in spun leaves or on the ground..
