Resident. A common and widespread species found throughout Britain.
First recorded in 2012 at Llanymynech Rocks in the north-east of the county.
Wingspan : M & F 12-16mm.
time & Voltinity
Grassland where ever the foodplant is found, but not at higher altitudes.
Stem miner. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives and feeds in the upper part of the stem below the flower head. Pupa is brown in a silken cocoon in the soil or leaf litter.
