Resident. Widespread and fairly common throughout the British Isles as far north as Banffshire, wherever chalk and limestone is found.

Montgomeryshire Status

Just two records from the Llanymynech Rocks area have been recorded

Habitat

Chalk and limestone.

Foodplant

Common and hoary rock-rose.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant, probably overwinters at this stage. Larva lives in a tight ball-like spinning in the terminal shoot. Pupates in a fragile cocoon in detritus.
