Resident. A local species found in the southern half of Britain.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2013 at Llanymynech Rocks in the north-east of the county. This is only the tenth record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 11-15mm.

Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Downland and other dry, grassy places.

Foodplant

Wild carrot, rough chervil, cow parsley and hedge-parsley.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner/spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva first mines a leaf, later it feeds externally within a spinning. Pupates amongst the detritus or in the soil.
