UK Status

Resident. Distributed over much of Britain, although it is mainly missing from the western seaboard counties.

Montgomeryshire Status

This species was first recorded in 2014 at Middletown in the east of the county. Just the second record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 18-22mm.

Confusion species

Depressaria pulcherrimella and Depressaria douglasella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Open grassland, damp meadows and marshes.

Foodplant

Cow parsley, rough chervil, hemlock and hog-weed.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives and feeds amongst shoots spinning terminal leaves. Pupates in cocoon in soil.
