Resident. A common species spreading north, found throughout England and south Wales.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2012 at Middletown in the east of the county. This was only the second record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 13-17mm.

Confusion species

Crassa tinctella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Fungus.

Lifestage data

Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva feeds on fungus, on and under dead bark. Pupates in larval habitation in a fragile silken cocoon.
