Resident. A widespread and fairly common species in Britain.

Montgomeryshire Status

Discovered in the east of the county at Llanmerewig Glebe Nature Reserve in 2014. Prior to that, had not been recorded in north Wales since 1995.

Wingspan :   M & F 9-11mm.

Confusion species


Elachista eleochariella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine.)

Habitat

Wet bogs and acid heaths.

Foodplant

Sedges and grasses.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva forms a gallery mine in the leaf. Pupates attached to a leaf by a silken girdle.
