Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles.
A single old record taken at Berriew in 1977.
Wingspan : M & F, 10-11mm.
It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. In some cases differences can be seen in various life stages.

Grassland, bogs and heaths.
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on the leaf. Larva forms broad, flat transparent mine. Pupates without a cocoon under a slight web on a leaf or stem.
