Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles, except for the south-west of England.
Recorded from a single site in the west of the county, Commins Coch.
Wingspan : M & F, 10-11mm.
It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. In some cases differences can be seen in various life stages.

Woodland clearings and edges.
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on the tip of leaf blade. Larva forms a mine which broadens gradually. Pupates without a cocoon in a slight web in any concealed place.
