Resident. Widespread and locally common throughout much of the British isles.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2010 at Llanfyllin in the north of the county. This was only the fifth record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F, 13-16mm.

Confusion species

C. sturnipennella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Found in waste land and fields where root crops are grown.

Foodplant

Orache and Goose-foot.

Lifestage data

Case-bearing. Eggs are laid on florets. Larva firsts feeds internally and then from a case. Pupa in the case on the ground.
