UK Status Resident. Found in scattered colonies throughout much of Britain. Montgomeryshire Status First recorded in 2012 at Middletown in the east of the county. Wingspan : M & F 11.5-14.5mm. Confusion species Care should be taken as other species of Coleophora can look very similar. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Bivoltine)  Habitat Grassland and roadside verges. Foodplant Clovers. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid between the petals of a floret. Larva first lives inside floret eating green seeds, later bores through calyx to reach seeds within. Pupates inside flower head. 2nd generation construct case to overwinter. |
