UK Status Resident. Widespread but local throughout the British Isles. Montgomeryshire Status Recorded from a single site in the south of the county, Llangurig 1990. Wingspan : M & F, 10.5-14mm. Confusion species It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. In some cases differences can be seen in various life stages. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Mainly heaths and alder carrs. Foodplant Birch and alder. Lifestage data Case-bearing/leaf miner. Eggs laid on leaf. Larva creates a series of blotch mines from which it forms a case, the case is enlarged as the larva grows. Pupates within case, attached to a twig. |
