Resident. Found in scattered colonies throughout much of Britain.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in the east of the county at Middletown in 2012. This was only the fourth record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 8.5-11.5mm.

Confusion species

Care should be taken as other species of Coleophora can look very similar.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Woodland, scrub and gardens.

Foodplant

Hawthorn, apples, plum and Blackthorn.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on leaf . Larva first forms a blotch mine and later a case. Pupates in the case attached to the upper surface of a leaf.
