Resident. Widespread and fairly common in England as far north as the Midlands and uncommon in Wales.

Montgomeryshire Status

Locally fairly common. Recorded from three sites in the west of the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 12-14mm.

Habitat

Damp woodland and marshland.

Foodplant

Wild angelica and ground-elder.

Lifestage data

Spinning/leaf miner. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva, first generation feeds within spun leaflets, second generation mines the stem. Pupates on the ground in an open network cocoon.
