Resident. A widespread and fairly common species found in Britain as far north as the central lowlands of Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2013 at Middletown in the east of the county.

Wingspan :   M & F 10-13mm.

Confusion species

A quite distinctive species.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Blackthorn.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner/web forming. Eggs on the foodplant. Larva first mines the leaf, then in the spring it feeds externally under a web. Pupates in a white cocoon on the feeding area of the plant.
