Resident. Local and uncommon in Britain, as far north as Shropshire.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2014 at Dolydd Hafren Nature Reserve in the east of the county. A new record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 6-7mm.

Confusion species

Both the other species of Phyllocnistis look very similar.

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Willows.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on leaf. Larva forms epidermal mine, then mines twig, Later returns to leaf. Cocoon sits at end of mine.
