Resident. Widespread and common in southern England, spreading northwards.
Recent increase of records from the east of the county.
Wingspan : M & F, 8mm.
Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species. It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species.

Wherever the foodplant is found.
Mainly horse chestnut spp.
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on leaves. Larva mines a blotch and feeds within. Pupates inside the blotch.
