UK Status Resident. Widespread and common throughout England and Wales, in Scotland as far north as Perthshire but much more local. Montgomeryshire Status Recorded from a few scattered sites across the county. Wingspan : M & F, 10-12mm. Confusion species None. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Univoltine)  Habitat Gardens and orchards. Foodplant Apple including cultivars. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on a leaf. Larva forms a fine gallery which develops into a blotch, then leaves the mine, folds the edge downwards and feeds within. Pupates in a tough, oval, brown cocoon spun in leaf litter. |
