UK Status Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles. Montgomeryshire Status Recorded from a few scattered sites across the county. Wingspan : M & F, 9-10mm. Confusion species Many species of Parornix are very similar, care should be taken with identification. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Bivoltine)  Habitat Heathland and open woodland. Foodplant Birch. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms a gallery which develops into a blotch, then larva folds the leaf and feeds within. Pupates in an ochreous cocoon under a turned down leaf edge. |
