Resident. Widespread and common in England and Wales.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in the east of the county at Roundton Hill nature reserve in 2013. This was only the second record for north Wales

Wingspan :   M & F 8-9mm.

A fairly distinctive species.

Habitat

Hedgerows and woodland.

Foodplant

Elm.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf close to midrib. Larva feeds in a slender gallery with linear frass. The pupa is black in a cocoon spun under bark or in the detritus.
