Resident. Widely distributed and common throughout the British Isles.
Just a handful of records from the south and east of the county.
Wingspan : M & F, 8-9mm.
Some forms can be distinctive but care should be taken with others.

Wherever the foodplant is found.
Birch, hawthorn, apple (wild and cultivated), mountain ash, and cotoneaster spp.
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on leaf. Larva forms a long tortuous gallery. Pupates in a slender open ended cocoon on the foodplant or in the vegetation below.
