UK Status

Resident. Locally common throughout the British Isles as far north as southern Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2010 from Llanfyllin in the north of the county. Since which a further record from the east has also been added.

Wingspan :   M & F, 7-9mm.

Confusion species

L. wailesella and L. spartifoliella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Bivoltine)

Habitat

Mainly an urban species.

Foodplant

Laburnum, dyer's greenweed and garden lupin.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva first mines a brown blotch, then an irregular short gallery. Pupates in a fragile cocoon on the underside of a leaf of the foodplant.
