 Resident. Widespread in Britain as far north as
Durham.
 
 Montgomeryshire Status
 
 First recorded in 2013 at Middletown in the east of the county. This is
only the 5th record for north Wales, probably overlooked.

 Confusion species
 
 Many species of Stigmella and Ectoedemia are very similar. One of the
best ways of separating them is to examine the type of leaf-mine in the
foodplant.

 Lifestage data
 
 Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva produces very
variable mines which all start with a slender gallery. Pupates in a
reddish-brown cocoon.
