Resident. Widespread throughout the British Isles.

Montgomeryshire Status

A few records from the east of the county. An under-recorded day flying species and will be much more common than records suggest.

Wingspan :   M & F, 6-8mm.

Micropterix aruncella f.seppella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Hillsides and downland.

Foodplant

The larva has been recorded feeding in plant detritus.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Larva believed to feed at the base of herbaceous plants. Pupa formed in a tough silken cocoon. (Mines of some species are similar, care is required with identification).
