A locally common species, generally found in the western side of the county and less common in Middletown in the far east of the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 24-30mm.

Confusion species

Pretty Marbled.

Habitat

Woodland, moorland and grassy heathland.

Foodplant

Grasses.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa in a cocoon underground. Larva July-September, feeding mainly at night.
