Confusion species Vine's Rustic, Rustic, Small Mottled Willow, Dark Mottled Willow, Lorimer's Rustic, Porter's Rustic and Clancy's Rustic. |

  Habitat Mainly grassland. Foodplant Grass and cereal seeds. Lifestage data Overwinters as a larva in a cocoon underground, in which it later pupates in the spring. Larva September-spring through to the summer. |
