UK Status Resident. National Scarce B. S,SE,SW. Montgomeryshire Status First recorded in 2015 at Cors Dyfi Nature Reserve in the west of the county. This was only the second record in north Wales. Wingspan : M & F, 36-47mm. Confusion species Rush Wainscot and Bulrush Wainscot. |
Flight
time (Montgomeryshire)  Habitat Reedbeds, fens, marshes, riversides, marshes and margins to ponds and lakes. Foodplant Bulrush, lesser bulrush, yellow iris, common club-rush and branched bur-reed. Lifestage data Overwinters as a egg attached to a leaf: Larva, may to mid August: Pupates in stem, particularly of bulrush. |
