A fairly common species found throughout the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 23-29mm.

Confusion species

Concolorous, Cloaked Minor, Mere Wainscot and Porter's Rustic.
Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Wet and boggy places.

Foodplant

Sedges, cottongrasses and reed meadow-grass. Also probably other grasses and rushes.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a larva. Larva September-early July, feeding inside the stem. Pupates in a cocoon inside the stem or amongst the plant debris.
