UK Status Resident. Common S,C. Montgomeryshire Status A fairly common species found throughout the county. Wingspan : M & F, 47-56mm. Confusion species Copper Underwing (Svensson's labial palps are dark with white tips - see pic below). |

  Habitat Mostly in woodland but also found in open scrub, parks, hedgerows and gardens. Foodplant A wide range of broadleaf trees and to a lesser extent, shrubs. Lifestage data Overwinters as an egg. Larva mid April-late May. Pupates underground. |
