Broadleaf woodland, heathland, parkland, scrub, moorland, hedgerows, wet places and gardens.

Herbaceous plants.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg. Larva April-early June, feeding at night. Pupates under the soil in a strong cocoon.
