A fairly uncommon species, but it has been recorded from much of the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 32-39mm.

Confusion species

Shears.
Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Broadleaf woodland, hedgerows, scrub, gardens & some urban areas.

Foodplant

The expanding buds & leaves of pedunculate oak (and probably sessile oak).

Lifestage data

Overwinters as egg (laid in small batches on foodplant). Larva Apr-June. Then pupates underground in a cocoon.
