A rare and very local species that has only been recorded twice in the county, the last time at Llyn Mawr SSSI in 1971.

Wingspan :  M & F, 42-48mm.

Certain forms of Northern Rustic.

Habitat

Mostly coastal grassland and cliffs, but also found in moorland, upland grassland and marshland.

Foodplant

Hogweed and wild angelica.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a female adult. Eggs are laid on the foodplant in spring. Larva April-early August. Pupates just below the soil.
