A rare species. Just two records exist for the county, the last being at Commins Coch in 2004.

Wingspan :  M & F, 32-42mm.

Confusion species

Dusky Brocade, Pale-shouldered Brocade and the Stranger.

Habitat

Fens, marshes, riverbanks and other wet places, but also occurs in drier farmland and some urban areas.

Foodplant

A wide range of herbaceous plants.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa underground. Larva late June-July and late August-September, feeds at night.
