Resident. A fairly common species that is quite well distributed across the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 46-58mm.

Confusion species

Great Brocade, Silvery Arches.

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland.

Foodplant

Woody plants such as bramble, honeysuckle, birch, sallow and hazel. It has also been found on dock.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a part grown larva in the leaf litter. Larva August-May, feeding at night. Pupates in a cocoon on or just under the soil.
