A scarce species which has only been recorded from scattered sites throughout the county.

Confusion
species
Although the books say "none", this species could easily be
overlooked amongst the worn grey arches, dark arches and heart
&
darts that frequent moth traps in the summer. It also looks a bit like
dingy shears at first glance. |

Habitat
Broadleaf woodland and scrub, hedgerows, parkland, gardens and wet or
boggy places.
Foodplant
Sallow, birch, blackthorn, hawthorn and herbaceous plants.
Lifestage data
Overwinters as a small larva near the soil. Larva Aug-May, feeding
at night. Pupates just below the soil. |
