Montgomeryshire Status

This species is rarely recorded in the county. An overlooked species due to its simularity with the Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing. It is probably much more common than the records suggest.

Wingspan :  M & F, 34-40mm.

Confusion species

Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing (see blue circles in pictures below which highlight the key differences of this species).

Habitat

Found in various habitats.

Foodplant

The foodplant is still to be discovered, but is probably similar to the Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing.

Lifestage data

The adult appears about two weeks earlier than the Lesser Broad- bordered Yellow Underwing, then probably follows a similar structure.
